ENDICOTT, N.Y. – The Oswego State baseball team fell to Brockport, 11-6, in the rubber match at Union Endicott High School on Saturday afternoon. With the outcome, Oswego moves to 18-8 on the season and 9-3 in SUNYAC play, while Brockport improves to 14-13 overall and 8-6 in conference action.
Oswego's runs all came late in the game. In the seventh inning,
Robert Donnelly smacked a triple to left center. Pinch hitter
Lukas Olsson then came through with a single to the same spot to drive in Oswego's first run of the game. The next batter, reigning Oswego State Athlete of the Week
Ryan Enos, crushed a homer to left to bring the score to 9-3.
In the ninth, the Lakers put up three more runs as part of a two-out rally. Enos again helped the Laker cause, this time by drawing a walk.
Brandon Nicholson then reached on a Brockport error to put runners on first and second for
Mike Dellicarri. Dellicarri stroked a single to right field to knock in Enos and move Nicholson to third.
John Barnes followed up with a single of his own for Oswego's fifth run of the game.
Eli Holton kept the hits coming, driving a single up the middle to bring home Dellicarrri, but the rally then came to an end.
As a team, the Lakers combined for eight hits on the day. Enos' two RBI were a game-high, while Barnes led the team with two hits.
Starter
Brian Nolan allowed four earned runs in 1.1 innings of work against Brockport. Nolan was followed by
Ronald Loomis, who gave up an earned run in 2.1 innings, while striking out two.
Matt Bowman recorded two strikeouts as well, allowing two earned runs in 3.1 innings.
Brad Wroblewski pitched the final two innings, giving up two earned runs.
Oswego returns to Laker Baseball Field at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, hosting Elmira for nonconference action.
