Fredonia, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team improves its winning streak to nine games on Tuesday, with an 88-60 win over Fredonia on the road.
Tyler Collins led five double-digit scorers with 17 points on an efficient 6-for-8 effort shooting.
Brockport is now 16-3 overall and 11-3 in SUNYAC play this season.
Danny Ashley had 12 points and four steals in the victory, while
Jahidi Wallace also put up 12 points.
Coming in off the bench,
Monte Stroman was the third member of the team with 12 points.
Devante Hagins was the fifth player to reach double figures, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 at the charity stripe on his way to 10 points on the night.
The Green and Gold took an early 8-2 lead, jumping out to an advantage in the first three minutes of play. Fredonia hung around and was able to fight for a 18-16 lead nearing the halfway point of the first. However, Brockport would close the half strong to secure an 11-point lead heading into the locker room.
The hosting Blue Devils came out firing on all cylinders to start the second, cutting the Brockport lead down to just five points. The Golden Eagles quickly answered with a scoring spurt to push the lead to 61-48 before the 11-minute mark. They kept their feet on the pedal for the remainder of the contest, running away with a 28-point blowout win on the road.
With just six turnovers, Brockport committed its fewest amount of turnovers in a game so far this season. The team took care of the ball and took advantage of Fredonia's mistakes, outscoring the opponent 24-7 in points off of turnovers.
The Golden Eagles are on the road again this weekend with trips to Oneonta and New Paltz for more conference play. Friday's action against Oneonta starts at 7:30 pm, while Saturday's matchup with New Paltz tips-off at 4 pm.
