Morrisville pulls away from Women’s Lacrosse, 15-5

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville raced out to an early 7-1 lead and did not look back as it outshot the visiting Bengals 32-13 en route to a 15-5 non-conference victory this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Kendall Skuse (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) scored twice, while Hannah Nagowski (Lancaster/Lancaster) chipped in two assists to pace the Bengals' offense.
  • Mary Musialowski (Lancaster/Sacred Heart) added a goal and an assist.
  • Nina Schaefer (Lafayette/Lafayette) and Jackie Dufresne (Lake View/Frontier) also scored for Buffalo State.
  • After Morrisville started the game by scoring seven of the first eight goals, the Bengals found a spark as it scored two goals in a :40 second span to trim the lead to 7-3.
  • The Mustangs closed the half on a 3-0 run to take a 10-3 halftime lead.
  • The momentum continued as Morrisville opened the second half on a 5-1 run to take a 15-4 lead with 20:15 left.
  • Buffalo State closed out its scoring with a goal by Skuse at the 17:30 mark of the second half and that would prove to be the final goal of the contest as both teams were held scoreless for the remainder of the contest.
  • Janae Nelson (Elmont/Elmont Memorial) tallied six saves in the loss in net for the Bengals.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Courtney Cavellier tallied five goals to pace the Mustangs, while Melissa Lucciola added three goals and an assist.
  • Kadi Bice finished with three saves to earn the win in the net.
 
NOTEWORTHY
  • With her first-half goal against Morrisville, senior Nina Schaefer officially became the 11th person in Buffalo State history to score 100-career goals. Schaefer is also currently 11th in program history with 128-career points.
