SUNY New Paltz Women's Soccer Fall On The Road to Plattsburgh State

| By:
Box Score Plattsburgh, New York – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team fell on the road against hosting Plattsburgh State, 5-0 Saturday.

The Cardinals (9-3-1 overall, 4-0-1 SUNYAC) scored four of their five goals in the first half.

Abbie Seamans chested in a cross by Sarah Haight in the fourth minute and four minutes later Ernesta McIntosh doubled Plattsburgh State's lead after one-timing a shot just outside the box.

Cait Gagen scored the Cardinals third and fourth goals in the 21st and 28th minute. She put away a break away just past the Hawks goalkeeper Megan Tornatore (nine saves) and then knocked in another off a pass from Rachael Moran.

Sarah Haight capped off Plattsburgh State's run, putting away a breakaway in the 51st minute, assisted by McIntosh.

The Cardinals out-shot SUNY New Paltz, 24-8, including 17-3 in the first half. They also held the advantage in shots on target (14-5) and corners (5-3).

"I take full responsibility for today's result," said Hawks coach Mike Eckberg. "We integrated a new system that did not yield enough opportunities in our attack, which created too many gaps in transition defensively."

The Hawks hopes to end their three-game losing streak next week when they take on hosting Western Connecticut State Wednesday at 7 p.m. and SUNY Oneonta at home Saturday at 1 p.m.
