BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team lost in a close match to Oswego State 1-0, Saturday afternoon in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action. The Golden Eagles fall to 2-10 (0-4 SUNYAC) on the 2017 season, where the Lakers move to 5-3 (2-0 SUNYAC).
The Green and Gold tried to get on the board early with a penalty corner opportunity in the 12th minute where
Katie Ziemba sent a shot in from the circle, to have
Emily Hall's deflection sent wide. A few minutes later,
Mariah Clark sent a shot on target that was blocked, to then have
Christina Conkling collect the rebound to send her shot wide as well. The Brockport defense was tested midway through the game when Oswego ripped three straight shots off a penalty corner, which were all saved by goalie
Sarah Beam. The Golden Eagles tallied two more shots in the last minutes of the first half, but could not convert to keep the game scoreless heading into the halftime break.
The Brockport defense was tested early, as Oswego scored two minutes into the second half off a penalty corner. The Green and Gold offense's best scoring opportunity came in the 46th minute off a penalty corner, where
Margo Tremaine had an open look on net but her shot was saved. The Golden Eagles added one more shot for the remainder of the game, but could not convert on any opportunities ending the game with a 1-0 loss to Oswego.
The Brockport field hockey team totaled 10 shots on the afternoon, and Beam finished the game 10 saves between the pipes.
Brockport will be back in action this Wednesday where they face SUNY Geneseo, with the game slated to start at 4 p.m.
