Brockport Holds on Against Oswego to Win Game Three

ENDICOTT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport baseball team earned a crucial 11-6 victory over Oswego State to take two games out of three. Alex Brown impressed in his sixth start of the season and the bats struck early to ensure they came out on top. The Golden Eagles move to 14-13 on the year and now hold an 8-6 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) record. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 18-8 on the season and sit at 9-3 in SUNYAC competition.

The Green and Gold jumped out to an early lead with Nicholas Pastore leading off with a single to center field in the first. Tom Kretzler drove him in with a double to left center and he came into score on a hard-hit ball by Anthony Eaton. An inning later, Lou Miceli rocketed a two-run homerun to left field to extend the lead to 4-0. Brown pitched a tremendous 6.1 innings of scoreless, two-hit baseball before allowing three runs to come across. Trevor McCarthy came in as relief and made quick work of the next two batters to get the team back up to the plate.

The Golden Eagles extended the lead in the seventh inning after Pastore singled up the middle to score Miceli and came across himself after a wild pitch. In the top of the ninth Kretzler helped his team score a pair of insurance runs, when he launched a two-run home run to left field to grasp an 11-3 advantage.

Five Golden Eagles finished with two or more hits. Pastore batted three-for-six and scored two runs. Miceli hit two-for-three with two RBI, two walks and a homerun. McCarthy finished the game pitching 2.2 innings of three-hit, three-run baseball.

Brockport will stay on the road and travel to Rochester Institute of Technology on April 18 with first pitch slated for 4 p.m.
