Box Score Hoboken, NJ – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team got off to a hot start against the Stevens Institute of Technology, but ultimately fell in four sets 25-18, 15-25, 11-25, 19-25.
The Hawks jumped all over the Ducks early on and got up 8-2 after an ace from
Maddie Zwickl. Stevens attempted to fight back and get in the set, but they were never able to get control.
Demi Herasme finished the set off with a nice middle attack, cutting the ball back across her body giving the Hawks a one set lead.
Unfortunately, the Hawks couldn't keep the momentum going and fell in the next two sets 25-15 and 25-11.
Things began looking up for New Paltz in the fourth set behind three early kills from
Julie Greenspan, which gave SUNY New Paltz a 13-11 lead, but the Ducks were too much to handle and the Hawks fell in the final set 25-19.
Top performers from the match for SUNY New Paltz included
Maddie Zwickl with 29 assists,
Veronica Matedero and
Meredith Dignan with 13 digs a piece, and Herasme with seven kills on 15 attempts.

SUNY New Paltz has a quick turnaround as they travel to Ithaca for the Bomber Invitational on Friday to play three matches over the weekend.
