PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh women's tennis team opened with three doubles victories and went on to a 6-3 win versus Cortland in SUNYAC competition Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons dropped to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the conference, and the Cardinals improved to 6-2 and 1-1.

Plattsburgh swept the doubles flights to build a 3-0 lead in the match. At first doubles, Kelci Henn and Nadine Ciardulli earned an 8-5 win over senior Mia Hayes (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) and sophomore Chloe Knapp (Jamestown). The Cardinals won second doubles by an 8-1 score, and in the third flight, Sarah Hoeffner and Sarah Sampson won a close 8-6 decision over Cassie Special (Williamsville/Williamsville South) and Tina Wertman (Rochester/Caledonia-Mumford).

In singles play, the Red Dragons split the six matches. Isabella Arrigo (Sauquoit/Sauquoit Valley) recorded a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 win over Barrett, with a super tiebreaker to 10 points played in place of a third set. Special won in straight sets against Tina Mitsoglou, 6-3, 6-2, and Olivia Terry (Hampton Bays) rallied from a set down to defeat Erin Wiggins, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
