Brockport Drops Game on the Road against Clarkson, 11-1

Potsdam, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team drops a tough game on the road against Clarkson University Saturday afternoon, falling by a final score of 11-1. The Golden Eagles drop to 1-1 on the year, where the Golden Knights move to 1-0.

Brockport squared off with Clarkson throughout the opening quarter, but found no luck in taking an early lead. The Green and Gold found some trouble late in the first when the Golden Knights notched back-to-back goals, to have a 2-0 advantage. The quarter ended with Clarkson adding a late goal lead 3-0 heading into the second.

The Golden Eagles opened up the next quarter up with an extra-man opportunity. Jake Recor took the lone shot for Brockport, but his shot sailed wide. The deficit grew larger for the Green and Gold and Clarkson cashed in three more times throughout the quarter, to set the halftime score at 7-0.

Brockport continued to fight back in the third quarter, but the Golden Knight defense halted any offensive threat. The Green and Gold picked up the pace for the remainder of the quarter, outshooting Clarkson 10 shots to six. The Golden Eagles found some luck with two minutes left to go in the third, when Recor tallied a goal set the score at 8-1. Recor stuffed his shot into the back of the net off a defense splitting Corey Choberka pass.

The Green and Gold kept the intensity up in the final quarter, but were held off the scoresheet to set the final score at 11-1. Brockport was very successful clearing the ball on the day, completing 17 of the 18 attempts. Steven Gurin and Jahadi Prior led the defense with two caused turnovers a piece and a collective seven groundballs.
