PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State Men's Basketball team recorded their third consecutive win on Saturday after beating Buffalo State 95-68 in Memorial Hall to improve to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the SUNYAC.
Senior guard
Eli Bryant (Staten Island, N.Y./Michael J. Petrides School) led the Cardinals with 23 points, junior guard/forward
Chris Middleton (New York, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) had 17 points and senior guard
Eric Mack (Roosevelt, N.Y./Baldwin) recorded 11 points.
Junior forward
Ian Howard (Queens, N.Y./Springfield Gardens) scored nine points and had a team high of 10 rebounds.
Mack scored the first five point for the Cardinals with a three-pointer and a dunk each time taking the lead away from the Bengals.
The Cardinals were only up by three halfway through the first quarter until they went on a 16-point run to shake things up.
Howard started it off with four free throws followed by a layup and a three-pointer from Bryant, a layup from Middleton, another three-pointer from Bryant and Middleton finished it with another layup to lead 37-18.
Plattsburgh State had a 25 point lead with 26 seconds remaining but a three-pointer by Buffalo State cut it to 22 and the Cardinals went into halftime up 56-34.
Mack started the second half with a dunk to take a 24 point cushion. The Cardinals took their largest lead of 29 points with 12:39 left in the game.
The Bengals came within 21 points of the lead but the Cardinals went on a six point run. Junior forward
Isaiah Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS for Dual Language and Asian Studies) started it with a layup followed by a layup from Bryant and another layup from freshman guard
Travis Cox (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Frederick Douglass Academy).
Buffalo State made two free throws but junior forward
Wayne Shih (Taipei, Taiwan / Shih Lin) put in a last second jumper to secure the 27 point victory.
The Cardinals are on the road Tuesday, Dec. 5, to head to Middlebury, Vt. to play Middlebury at 7:30 p.m.
