AMHERST, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's tennis team lost a close nonconference battle 5-4 at Daemen College on Sunday afternoon. Oswego won the final three slots at singles competition and third doubles as it moves to 3-6 on the year while Daemen goes to .500 (5-5).
Erin Vargo and
Jill Burns paired for an 8-4 win at third doubles over Morgan Park and MacKenzie Robbins. Vargo continued her winning ways at sixth singles, taking a straight-sets victory 6-2, 6-0.
In the fifth slot was
Lorrayne Broach, battling to a 6-2 first set win and holding off her counterpart 6-3 in the second set. The Lakers' final triumph came at fourth singles from
Haru Kobayashi. She made quick work of Park, dropping just one game in the first set before closing it out with a 6-0 victory.
At 3 p.m. on Friday, Oswego will return to the courts when it travels to face the Red Dragons of Cortland.
