NEWBURGH, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (1-1) defeated Mount Saint Mary College (0-1) 15-4 in the teams' first ever meeting on Sunday afternoon. Junior captain
Cayla O'Connor (Dexter, N.Y./General Brown) led the Bears with career-highs in goals (five), assists (three) and points (eight). Sophomore attack
Alli Stark (Walworth, N.Y./Gananda) had three goals and an assist, while senior captain
Rachael Huntley (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) repeated yesterday's performance with a goal and three assists. Junior midfielder

Alexa Ferrer (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) each scored twice.
The Bears started quickly and never looked back. Stark scored to begin a 5-0 run to open the game at 26:44 with an assist from O'Connor. Huntley then fed Paige for the second goal at 23:35. Stark connected with freshman attack
Zoe Morgenroth (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) just over four minutes later and then set up O'Connor's goal at 17:11. Ferrer then scored her first career goal on a free position at 10:25 to make it 5-0. Nicole Cervone got the Knights on the board at 6:38 with a free-position goal and then Potsdam closed the half with four straight. Senior midfielder
Danielle Pound (Henderson, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) scored her first of the season at 5:16 with a helper from Morgenroth and Ferrer added her second free-position tally at 2:57. O'Connor set up sophomore attack
Ashley Burrowes (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) at 2:22 and O'Connor assisted on a Huntley marker at 1:26. The Bears took the commanding 9-1 advantage into the break.
The second half was more tightly contested, but Potsdam continued to pull away, outscoring Mount Saint Mary 6-3. O'Connor scored four of Potsdam's final period goals and Paige and Stark added the other two. Huntley, Burrowes and sophomore attack
Lane Perl (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) all recorded assists. Perl's helper was her first collegiate point.

Katie Longamore (Dexter, N.Y./General Brown) made seven saves to earn her fourth career victory. O'Connor also had a contest-best four draw controls. Senior captain
Morgan Cook (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) collected three ground balls and Morgenroth caused a game-high four turnovers.
The Bears are back in action on Thursday, when they head across town to battle Clarkson University at 4 p.m.
