Pitt-Bradford battles past Women's Volleyball

BUFFALO, N.Y.— Bryanna Fisher (Brooklyn/Midwood) led the Bengals offense with 12 kills and chipped in a pair of block assists, but it was not enough as Buffalo State dropped a straight-sets decision to visiting Pitt-Bradford in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Pitt-Bradford stormed out of the gate with an early 7-2 run but couldn't sustain the lead as Buffalo State battled back to trim the deficit to 19-17. The Panthers responded with six of the next eight points to claim the first set 25-19.
  • The Bengals opened the second set with its first lead of the match, 9-7, off of a kill by Alena McKelvey (Buffalo/City Honors). Pitt-Bradford used back-to-back kills, a couple of points later, to retake the lead 11-10.
  • Both teams battled for the rest of the set until a 5-0 run late gave the Panthers control of the second set, 25-20.
  • After an early 6-3 run by the Bengals, Pitt-Bradford used a 12-2 run to retake the lead. Buffalo State rallied to cut the lead back to 22-18, but the Panthers won the next three points to finish off the straight-sets win.
  • Eimile O'Brien (Marietta/Marcellus) and McKelvey each chipped in four kills, with O'Brien adding three block assists.
  • Brooke Federko (Jamestown/Jamestown) finished with 23 assists.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Riley Anderson and Emily Cleveland led the Panthers with 18 and 16 kills respectively.
  • Payton Orzech chipped in 38 assists.
