GENESEO, N.Y.— Geneseo made the most of just five hits for a 5-3 victory over visiting Buffalo State in the opener and then claimed the nightcap by a 7-0 count today to earn a SUNYAC sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State outhit the Knights 11-5 in the opener, but could not overcome a 4-0 first-inning deficit in the 5-3 loss.
- Nicole Adams (Lockport/Starpoint) was one of four Bengals to collect a pair of hits, going 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs.
- Abijah Adams (Rochester/Greece-Arcadia), Julia Blujus (Amherst/Sacred Heart) and Cassie O'Hern (Augusta, NJ/High Point) also added two hits apiece.
- Marissa Hayes (N. Tonawanda/Niagara-Wheatfield) was in the circle for the loss, allowing five hits and three walks, while striking out two.
- Geneseo registered three of its five hits in the four-run first inning that included a two-run home run.
- The Bengals closed the deficit with three runs in the third, including on Nicole Adams' two-run triple and then added a run on a two-out error.
- Geneseo's only other two hits came in the sixth inning and they were able to add an insurance run.
- Buffalo State put two runners on with one out in the seventh and then loaded the bases with two outs, but could not push another run home.
FOR THE FOES
- Claire VanNewkirk belted a two-run home run for the Knights.
- Taylor Moore improved to 7-1 in the circle, giving up 11 hits and two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings.

- Geneseo plated runs in each of the first three innings of the late game to take and early 5-0 lead and cruised to a 7-0 victory.
- Nicole Adams was 1 for 3 with a double.
- Hayes suffered the loss again, throwing three innings and allowing seven hits and five runs.
- Adams threw the final three innings and gave up five hits and two runs (one earned).
FOR THE FOES
- Alyssa Persich paced the Geneseo offense, going 4 for 4 with a double, a triple and three runs scored.
