CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland men's lacrosse team scored 17 straight goals spanning the first to third quarters and went on to defeat Morrisville, 23-2, in non-conference lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon at the Stadium Complex. The Red Dragons improved to 3-1, while the Mustangs fell to 0-3.
Fourteen different players netted at least one goal for Cortland, led by senior
Terrence Haggerty (Centerport/Harborfields) with three goals and four assists and freshman
Sam Rovner (Hewlett) with three goals and two assists. Freshman
Tyler Starrett (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) tallied two goals and two assists, senior
Corey McMahon (Lindenhurst/St. John the Baptist) and junior
Steven Veteri (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) each contributed two goals and one assist and junior
Brandon Stiles (Mastic/Eastport-South Manor) and freshman
Gordon Adams (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) scored twice.
Sophomore
Dante Yacavone (Homer) chipped in with one goal and one assist, while junior

Marc Esposito (West Babylon) started in goal for Cortland, stopping five shots in the first half. Senior

Dominick Natale (Homer) scooped up five ground balls, sophomore
Colin McCarthy (Mount Sinai) recorded three ground balls and two caused turnovers and freshman
Cameron Sweeney (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) added two caused turnovers.
Junior Geoffrey Field (Glen Cove) and freshman Evan Kistner (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) netted goals for Morrisville with senior Peter Pina (Culver City, CA) assisting on both scores. Freshman goalie Brady Ryan (Camillus/West Genesee) made 13 saves in 56:23 before giving way to freshman Pasquale Kourakos (Harrison/Harrison-Bridgton Academy), who did not face a shot over the final 3:37.
Sophomore Gerald Klubek (Eden) won nine faceoffs and collected five ground balls. Sophomore Zack Mabry (Suffern) scooped up three ground balls and caused three turnovers, freshman Kyle Farrell (Holtsville/Sachem East) recorded three ground balls and two caused turnovers, junior Chad Warren (LaFayette) contributed two ground balls and two caused turnovers and Ryan and freshman Tucker Reiss (LaFayette) each secured three ground balls.
