POTSDAM, N.Y.—Senior attackman
Eric Soderquist (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) closed his career with two goals and assist for the SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse team (4-11, 1-5 SUNYAC) as the Bears fell 19-8 to SUNY Cortland (10-6, 5-1) on Senior Day. The three points move him just past Hall of Famer Chris Mele '87 into fourth place on the program's scoring list with 107 goals and 61 assists for 168 points. Sophomore midfielder
Josh Huiatt (Lisbon, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) scored twice for Potsdam and sophomore attackman
Tayte Murray (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) added two assists.
Senior midfielder
Nick Orsini (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) tied the game at one at the 10:10 mark of the first quarter, but the Red Dragons rattled off the next seven goals as part of a 9-1 run that carried into the start of the third. Potsdam junior midfielder
Ryan Waldron (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) made it 8-2 with 3:02 to play in the half.
With 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter, Murray set up Soderquist's first marker of the day. Nine minutes later, Murray assisted on sophomore midfielder
Nick Slate's (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) 15th of the season and Huiatt ripped long shot into the back of the net off a pass from junior defender
Cole Zeller (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) 53 seconds into the fourth. Senior attackman
Lukas Baildon (Germany, N.Y./JFKS Germany) fed Soderquist for a man-up goal at 11:19 to create a 16-6 contest. Junior midfielder
Gabe Carbone (Accord, N.Y./Rondout Valley) and Huiatt scored the last two goals of the game at 2:08 and 1:02. Soderquist assisted on Huiatt's marker.

Zach Sheridan (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) allowed 15 goals and made 11 saves in the first 45 minutes. Fellow junior
Sean Coe (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) made two saves and allowed four goals in the next 10:47. Freshman
Mike Nowak (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) stopped the only shot on goal he faced in the final 4:13. Red Dragons senior goalie Joe Scalise (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) earned the victory with three saves and four goals allowed over the first three quarters. Sophomore Jake Craybas (Bethel, Conn./Bethel) made four saves and allowed four goals in the fourth quarter.
Offensively, grad attackman Devin Phelps (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango) led Cortland with five goals and an assist. Junior attackman Dean Riley (Homer, N.Y./Homer) had two goals and three assists. Senior long-stick middie Trevor Pratt (Denver, Colo./Colorado Academy), sophomore attackman Danny Caroussos (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) and junior midfielder Joey Panariello (Islip, N.Y./Islip) each contributed three points.
The game marked the end of the careers of Soderquist and fellow seniors Orsini, Baildon,
