FREDONIA, N.Y. – Six different players scored goals as the nationally sixth-ranked Cortland men's soccer team earned an 8-1 victory at Fredonia Friday afternoon in SUNYAC action. The Red Dragons improved to 11-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference, while the Blue Devils fell to 7-4-1 and 0-3-1.

Juniors Matt Aprile (Smithtown/Smithtown West) and Migell Ormsby (Kingston, Jamaica/DeWitt Clinton) led Cortland with two goals each. Senior Ma'Cain Spragling (Akron, OH/Brush) tallied one goal and two assists, and senior Bronson Harris (West Palm Beach, FL/Seminole Ridge), sophomore Sam Fuller (Liverpool) and freshman Jake Kaufman (Poughkeepsie/Spackenkill) each added a goal.

Junior Jake Keller (Wappingers Falls/Roy C. Ketcham), sophomores Miguel Tunas (North Salem), Nevin Nambiar (New Hyde Parks/Herricks) and Brian Ellsayed (Ronkonkoma/Sachem North) and freshman Omar Tejeda (New Rochelle) recorded one assist apiece for the Red Dragons. Senior goalie Connor Young (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point) made three saves in 69:33 before giving way to sophomore Sean Kelly (Coram/Newfield), who stopped two shots over the final 20:27 in his first collegiate action.

Pa Lu scored Fredonia's goal, and goalie Ty Bentham turned aside seven shots.

Cortland wasted little time in taking the lead, scoring just 1:19 into the game when Ormsby finished off a cross at the left post. Aprile notched his first goal of the game in the 10th minute with a shot inside the left post to make it a 2-0 score. Spragling's header goal off a corner kick in the 22nd minute gave Cortland a 3-0 lead before Harris connected on a free kick in the 44th minute and Kaufman deposited a shot inside the right post with just two seconds remaining in the half for a 5-0 Red Dragon lead.

Ormsby pushed the lead to 6-0 in the 52nd minute with a finish to the right of the goal, and Aprile scored on a rebound after a save by Bentham in the 64th minute to put Cortland ahead, 7-0. Fredonia got on the scoreboard in the 64th minute when Lu converted a penalty kick after a Blue Devil player was taken down in the box. Fuller completed the scoring with his first career goal in the 88th minute for the 8-1 final.
