ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's lacrosse team fell to Oneonta, 13-9, on Saturday afternoon. With the outcome, Oswego and Oneonta both move to 5-4 on the season. The Lakers fall to 1-2 in SUNYAC play, while the Red Dragons improve to 2-1 in conference action.
Offensively,
Riley Jaquin and
Montana Garrett were the leading goal-scorers for Oswego, with three goals apiece. With two assists as well, Jaquin tied for the game-high with five points. The sophomore also scooped up two ground balls for the Lakers.
Teammates
Gemma O'Kane,
Toni Laneve and
Teresa Shattuck each chipped in a goal in the Lakers' efforts. Like Jaquin, O'Kane also contributed two assists and two ground balls.
As a team, Oswego took 26 shots on the day, with 20 of those on-goal. The Lakers were successful in 14 of their 17 clear attempts.
In the net, goalie
Angela Ponto made a season-high 16 saves, finishing the day with a save percentage of .552. The senior played all 60 minutes in goal for the Lakers.
The Lakers continue their SUNYAC road trip when they travel to New Paltz to face the Hawks at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
