Cortland Succumbs to Host New Paltz in League Tennis Play

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Cortland women's tennis team lost a 9-0 decision at New Paltz in SUNYAC action. The Red Dragons (2-4, 0-3 SUNYAC) will play at Plattsburgh in a league match Saturday at 11 a.m.

New Paltz, playing its dual-match opener of the fall, captured the doubles flight by scores of 8-3, 8-1 and 8-1 from top to bottom. In singles action, three of the Hawks' wins were 6-0, 6-0 decisions. The closest match was a 6-2, 6-3 win by Jenna Grandville over Tina Wertman (Rochester/Caledonia/Mumford) at fourth singles.

Trinity Chow and Laura Koob won at first doubles, as well as first and second singles, respectively. Victoria Zezula earned wins at second doubles and third singles and Courtney Koran won at third doubles and fifth singles. Lindsay Haley notched wins at second doubles and sixth singles, and Emma Messenger was part of the winning third doubles team.
