POTSDAM, N.Y. – The SUNY Potsdam's men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted Skidmore College for its second meet of the season this afternoon. The Thoroughbreds claimed both victories, defeating the men 156-138 and the women 193-96.

Andrew McEwen (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) placed first in the 50 Free (23.20) and placed second in the 200 Breaststroke (2:27.65). Sophomore
Nicolas Haines (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) placed a close second in the 1000 Backstroke (11:10.51) and 500 Free (5:24.77). Freshman
Noah Brizzolara (Maine-Endwell) continued to impress with a win in the 100 Butterfly (54.86). Freshman
Jake McCormack (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./ Poughkeepsie) and
Ivan Nietopski (Buffalo, N.Y./ Williamsvile North) both recorded second place finishes. McCormack placed second in the 100 Backstroke (1:00.57) and Nietopski placed second in the 200 Butterfly (2:14.03). Sophomore
Ryan Hagadorn (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) finished second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:00.29) and the 100 Freestyle (51.95). Brizzolara, Hagadorn, and McEwen joined with Junior
Joshua Parker (Farmington, N.Y./ Victor) to win the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:41.62.Â

Samantha Coombs (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt), the reigning SUNYAC Swimmer of the Week, captured first in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:05.11. Sophomore
Emily Pitz (Lagrangeville, N.Y./ Millbrook) took first in the 200 Butterfly (2:33.19). Junior
Iris Curtis (Lewiston, N.Y./ Niagara Wheatfield) placed first in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:06.21 and also was second in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:24.69. Junior
Allison Medley (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) finished second in the 200 Breaststroke (2:45.41). Freshman
Maddie McCarthy (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 164.65. Coombs and Curtis joined Junior
Caroline Russell (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) and Sophomore
Kayla Barbarito (Philadelphia, N.Y./ Indian River) in the 200 Freestyle Relay to place second with a time of 1:47.55.
