PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The senior trio of
Madeline Saccocio,
Sarah Haight and
Cait Gagen recorded all five of the Plattsburgh State women's soccer team goals and assists in their 5-1 win over Skidmore College at the Field House Complex on Saturday evening.
Saccocio (Schenectady, N.Y. / Schalmont) scored the Cardinals first goal less than two minutes into the game with the assist from Haight (East Meredith, N.Y. / Charlotte Valley). Haight fed Saccocio the ball who went on a breakaway and tapped the ball past the goalie in bottom right corner.
Saccocio scored again in the 23
rd minute with the assists from
Abbie Seamans (Bolton Landing, N.Y.) and Haight. Haight crossed the ball that deflected off Seamans and was tapped in by Saccocio.
The Cardinals third goal came less than two minutes later by Haight with the assist this time from Saccocio. Haight got the through ball and shot it passed the keeper into the back right corner.
Plattsburgh State out-shot Skidmore College 13-3 in the first half, including 11 shots being on goal to lead 3-0 heading into halftime.
Gagen (East Syracuse, N.Y. / East Syracuse-Minoa) scored the Cardinals fourth goal in the 56
th minute after weaving through two defenders and put it in the top left corner.
Skidmore College scored their only goal in the 64
th minute when Yasmine Boukari shot the ball from 18 yards out over the head of the keepers reach.
Haight scored the fifth Cardinal goal in the 76
th minute off her own rebound with the assist from Saccocio.
All four of Saccocio's shots were on goal and she recorded her fifth and sixth goals of the season.
Haight had six shots, four on goal and scored her first two goals of the season.
Gagen had two shots, one on goal and recorded her fourth goal of the season.
Nichole Gibson (Arkport, N.Y. / Arkport) had one save in the 45:00 minutes she played in goal and
Taylor Adams (Schenectady, N.Y. / Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) had two saves and allowed one goal in the 45:00 minutes she was in net.
Plattsburgh State is now 4-2 overall and are back home on Tuesday, Sept. 19, to host Saint Lawrence at 7 p.m.
