OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team overpowered SUNY Canton, 18-6, on the road on Wednesday evening. With the victory, Oswego improves to 8-4 on the season while Canton falls to 10-5.

After Canton scored the game's opening goal, Oswego came back with a vengeance. The Lakers scored 13 unanswered goals in response, bringing a dominant 13-1 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, both teams put up three goals on the scoreboard. The teams matched again in the final quarter, with two goals apiece.

Twelve different Lakers contributed goals or assists in the contest, with Caleb Alford leading the charge, notching four goals and two assists. Two points behind Alford was Jarrod Wilkom, who scored three goals and dished out an assist.

Nate Bizub, Harrison Gardiner and Kyle O'Connor split time at the X. Each of the Lakers won the majority of their faceoffs, combining to win 21 of 27 faceoffs.

In the net, starting goalie Kevin O'Donnell allowed just one goal in the first two quarters. After giving up a goal with 11:28 left in the first quarter, O'Donnell was perfect for the rest of the first two quarters. The freshman made four saves on the day. Brody Carter played the remaining two quarters in the net, allowing five goals and making five saves.

As a team, Oswego dominated most statistical categories. The Lakers pounded the Roo goalies with shots all game long, outshooting Canton 60-22. Oswego excelled defensively as well, causing 11 turnovers compared to just six from the Roos.

The Lakers finish their three-game road trip this weekend, as Oswego faces Oneonta at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
