ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fredonia women's tennis closed out its regular season with a 9-0 loss to Geneseo on Friday at the Midtown Tennis Center.
The loss ended a seven-match winning streak by the Blue Devils, who fell to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the SUNYAC. That left them as the No. 2 seed from the West Division heading into the 2017 SUNYAC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament starting Saturday at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
Fredonia will meet Cortland in a quarterfinal match at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Depending on the outcome, the Blue Devils will play at either 8 a.m. Sunday in a consolation match or at noon in the semifinal round. The semifinals winners advance to the championship match at 10 a.m. Monday.
Friday's match in Rochester actually began Sept. 7 on the Geneseo campus before it was suspended by rain with the Knights up 3-0 after doubles competition. All the singles were completed Friday.
