POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Fredonia dropped its SUNYAC women's lacrosse opener Friday to Potsdam, 12-4.
Down 5-1 at halftime, the Blue Devils (0-6) turned in a solid defensive effort throughout but were unable to get closer than three goals in the second half. The Bears (4-4 overall) closed the game out with five unanswered goals.

Alli Coon (Livonia, N.Y./Livonia) and sophomore attack
Madeline Haney (Macedon, N.Y./Victor) had two goals each for Fredonia. Senior goalkeeper
Nicole Burrows (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) was tested early and often. She finished with 12 saves. She also was credited with recovering eight ground balls and causing two turnovers.
Haney led the Blue Devils with three draw controls while Coon also caused two turnovers.
The Blue Devils have three games in five days next week, starting Tuesday at Buffalo State. They are home next Thursday vs. Allegheny and next Saturday vs. Cortland.
