BROCKPORT, N.Y.—The College at Brockport women's soccer team came out on top on Saturday, winning a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game 2-0 over SUNY Oneonta.
The win lifts Brockport's record to 7-2-2 on the year and 2-1-1 in SUNYAC play. The Red Dragons fall to 1-8-1 after the loss and 1-3 in league play.
The Green and Gold started off firing on all cylinders and on the team's first shot of the game,
Maddie Siclare was able to sink her fifth goal of the season. Siclare created her own opportunity dribbling past defenders and firing from 30 yards out in the eighth minute to bring the score to 1-0.
Kimberly Lubanski started the game and made three saves, but after an injury substitution,
Molly Graves came in and made three saves of her own. Brockport took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Myriah Saar added to the Brockport lead by knocking in the third goal of her young career. Saar dribbled across the end line and fired a hard shot into the net and giving the team a 2-0 lead in the 55th minute. Defensively, The Golden Eagles were able to stand firm against an Oneonta team that fired off nine shots in the second half. Graves continued her fine play and finished with five saves in almost 64 minutes of play.
"We showed a lot of character today and put in a very complete performance," commented head coach
Mike Idland. "Now the next thing we need to find is consistency in our conference-play."
The Green and Gold will take a break from conference play on Oct. 4 when they travel to Misericordia University for a 4 p.m. matchup.
