OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's tennis team earned its first victory of the 2018-19 campaign in its home opener against Elmira College on Sunday. Out of a total of 65 games played on the afternoon, the Lakers dropped just nine of those to their Soaring Eagle opponents.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Haru Kobayashi did not lose a single game in singles or doubles, winning third singles in straight sets and combining with Bridget Bender to blank Elmira at first doubles.
- Lorrayne Broach swept through second singles without a setback and paired with Eliza Johnson for an 8-1 second doubles triumph.
- At first singles, Bridget Bender battled off Elmira's best attempt to steal a set or point.
- The sophomore had an easy test in the first set at 6-2 but had to hold off her counterpart by a break in the final set.
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego will now take the week to prepare for SUNYAC action, when it opens the conference slate with the defending champion Geneseo Knights at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
