THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE:  Buffalo State – 2, Oswego - 1
LOCATION: Coyer Field - Buffalo, N.Y.
RECORDS: Buffalo State (9-1-2/2-0-2), Oswego (6-5-1/1-4-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State dominated the first half, generating chances early and often, outshooting the Lakers, 11-2.
  • The Bengals opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Ali Shawish (Lackawanna/Lackawanna) buried a nifty pass from Pavone for his second goal of the season.
  • After Danny Clavin (Holtsville/Sachem East) was fouled in the box in the 33rd minute, Pavone converted the ensuing penalty kick for his team-leading seventh goal of the season to push the advantage to 2-0.
  • The Lakers began to put the Bengals on the heals in the second half, and Andreas Queen (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) came up with a critical diving save on a penalty kick with just over 11 minutes remaining which later proved to be the difference in the game.
  • The Lakers finally broke through in the 82nd minute, but Buffalo State was able to regain composure from there and seal the victory.
  • Queen finished with three saves for the win.
  • The teams combined to be assessed eight yellow cards and committed 39 fouls in what was a physical game from start to finish.

FOR THE FOES
  • Connor Lunduski scored the Lakers goal off a bouncing header pass from Jason Siracuse.
  • Brian Terra finished with three saves.

NOTEWORTHY
  • Buffalo State continues to be off to its best start since 1984 at 9-1-2 overall.  The Bengals' nine wins put them one shy of last year's total and two away from matching the program's highest win total since winning 14 in 1984.
