ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The College at Brockport women's soccer fought off Nazareth College in a gritty 0-0 draw. The Golden Eagles move to 4-1-1 on the season as the Golden Flyers follow suite, now sporting a record of 4-1-1.
The Green and Gold defense played well against a feisty Nazareth offense that put up eight shots in the first half. Brockport would fire five shots of their own, but neither team was able to net a go-ahead goal. The two teams would be tied as the match headed into the break with a 0-0 draw.
The score would remain unchanged for the second half as the Golden Eagle defense continued to make shots difficult for Nazareth. Goal keeper
Kimberly Lubanski was an anchor on defense as she helped Brockport shut out the opposition.
Rian McMullen and
Mara Zimmerman were key players in the back line along with fellow starters
Marissa Greiner and
Lindsey Lovett. The score would remain 0-0 as the match would head into overtime.
The Green and Gold were out-shot 8-1 in overtime, but with the defense refusing to give up and Lubanski not letting anything into the net, the score would not budge. The 0-0 final is the first draw for both teams.
Through 110 minutes of play, Lubanksi finished with 14 saves, including five in the two overtime periods. Brockport faced 21 shots in regulation and eight more in overtime.
The Golden Eagles continue their road trip on Tuesday Sept. 19 when they face-off at 6 p.m. against Alfred University.
