Box Score Oswego, NY – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team fell in its first game of SUNYAC play against Oswego State, 1-0.
It was a scoreless match at the half with the Lakers (6-1-1 overall, 1-0 SUNYAC) holding the advantage on shots, 6-4, but none were on target. They put away their only shot on frame in the 60
th minute, as Hassan Musa knocked in a cross from Jason Siracuse.
The Hawks (4-4 overall, 0-1 SUNYAC) got off to a slow start and struggled in possession and pressure on the ball, but picked up their play in the second half to out-shoot the Lakers, 13-2 in the final 45 minutes. However, SUNY New Paltz could not take advantage of its chances and was shut out for just the second time this season.
"The energy in the second half was much better and helped us create some good chances, unfortunately we couldn't put them away," said Hawks coach
Kyle Clancy. "It will be important to come out stronger [Saturday] and play a full 90 minutes at our top level."
