HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Zach Remers (Clarence, NY/Canisius) also scored for Buffalo State, and Anthony Passero (Fort Erie, ON/Lakeshore) had three assists.
  • After a scoreless first period, Buffalo State broke the game open with four goals in a span of less than nine minutes early in the second frame.
  • Guerrera intercepted a clearing attempt and wired one home just 28 seconds into the period, and then added his second of the game and seventh of the season just over three minutes later.
  • The Bengals added two more goals during a five-minute power play as Maddox buried his fourth and fifth goals of the season just 35 seconds apart.
  • Potsdam applied pressure early in the third period, but Sylves stood strong, and after a Buffalo State timeout midway through the period, Remers put the game out of reach with his first goal of the season on a strong individual effort on the half wall before backhanding a shot through the goalie's legs.
  • Sylves made 12 of his 26 saves in the third period for his second shutout of his career.
  • The Bengals outshot the Bears 32-26 for the game, including 15-6 in the middle frame.
  • Buffalo State finished 2 for 5 on the power play and killed off all three Potsdam chances.
