Taylor Casey (Garden City South/Kellenberg Memorial) and Junior
Kelsey Cohen (Baldwin/Baldwin) each scored four goals today to lead the SUNY Oneonta women's lacrosse team to a 13-9 home win against Oswego. The Red Dragons took control of the game in the second half outscoring the Lakers 9-5.

The two squads exchanged free position goals less than one minute apart in the eighth and ninth minute of the game. Riley Jaquin got Oswego (5-4, 1-2 SUNYAC) got things started before Cohen matched her to tie the game.

Gemma O'Kane and Teresa Shattuck scored consecutive goals to give the Lakers a 3-1 lead midway through the opening half.

Oneonta (5-4-1, 2-1 SUNYAC) came right back with back-to-back goals posted by Casey and sophomore
Shannon Giddens (Franklin Square/H Frank Carey) to knot the score again at three apiece.

The half would end deadlocked at 4-4 after the two teams exchanged goals including an unassisted goal by freshman
Sophia Calabrese (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) for the Red Dragons with 28 seconds left in the half.

Cohen and Casey got the Red Dragons rolling in the first three minutes of the second half with unassisted goals. After a goal by Montana Garrett made the score 6-5, Oneonta started to assume control with three unanswered goals to grab a 9-5 lead. Casey and Cohen scored consecutive goals before freshman
Christen Patalano (Mineola/Kellenberg Memorial) scored her first collegiate goal to cap the trio of goals.

Jaquin and Toni Laneve scored back-to-back goals to bring the Lakers back to within a pair of goals with just over 10 minutes to go in the contest.

The Red Dragons essentially locked up the game with three straight goals over the next seven minutes. A goal by Calabrese was sandwiched between the final goals of the game for Cohen and Casey.

The four goals for Casey today brought her team leading total to 35 while Cohen's four tallies gives her 22 on the season.

Oneonta starting goalie
Lexi Keen (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) picked up her third win of the season recording 11 saves in the game while Angela Ponto made 16 stops for Oswego.

Oneonta outshot Oswego 42-26 while winning 14 of the 24 draws. The Red Dragons collected 22 ground balls and converted 4-of-9 free position shots. The Lakers were on 2-of-13 on free position shots today.

Oneonta will stay at home for its next game coming this Wednesday against Scranton beginning at 4pm.
