Women’s Volleyball drops pair in SUNYAC pool play

FREDONIA, N.Y.—Oneonta and Oswego dealt Buffalo State a pair of straight-set defeats to close the opening round of SUNYAC pool play today at Fredonia

FINAL SCORE: Oneonta def. Buffalo State, 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-23)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Oneonta swept the Bengals in the day's opening match, winning 25-22, 25-14 and 25-23.  The Red Dragons had nine service aces and posted .171 attack percentage, compared to .068 by the Bengals.
  • Lauren Hansen (Blue Point/Bayport Blue Point) had a team-high nine kills to go with 11 digs for Buffalo State.
  • Allie Harford (Silver Creek/Silver Creek) tallied six kills and three blocks in the middle.
  • Alyssa Durski (Eden/Eden) had 11 assists and 11 digs, and Brittney Valentine (Marietta/Marcellus) recorded 18 digs.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Victoria Moulder led a balanced offense for Oneonta with eight kills, while Jessica Fowler had 30 assists. 
  • Lindsay Pelaccio had 12 digs and three aces.

  • The Lakers raced through the first two sets, winning 25-15 and 25-18, and then closed out the match with a 25-21 win in the third set.
  • Buffalo State was inefficient at the net again as it posted a .015 attack percentage, compared to .182 by the Lakers.
  • Oswego also held an 8-2 advantage in blocks.
  • Hansen had eight kills, three aces and 11 digs.
  • Durski finished with 19 assists.
