POTSDAM, N.Y.- Buffalo State (4-1, 1-0 SUNYAC) pulled away from the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (3-2, 0-1 SUNYAC) in the closing minutes to take the 80-68 win in Jerry Welsh Gymnasium. The Bears were led by freshman guard Errol James (Queens, N.Y./John Adams), who had a career-high night in points and rebounds with 14 and five, respectively. Freshman guard Sheldon Adams (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) finished with 22 points and four assists for the Bengals.
 
Buffalo State's senior guard Mike Henry (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) started the scoring with a layup, but Potsdam answered with an 11-1 run that was ignited by a three from sophomore guard Danny Delsol-Lowry (Queens, N.Y./Queens H.S. of Teaching). It was capped by an old fashion three-point play from junior guard Dante Langley (Schuylerville, N.Y./Schuylerville) and the Bears held an 11-3 lead. Baskets were exchange between the teams with mini offensive runs on both sides through the first half. Potsdam got out to their largest lead of the night of 12 after a made layup and free throw from James at the 6:51 minute mark. The Bengals bounced back with a 17-5 run to close out the first 20 minutes of play, that was capped by a layup from senior guard Malik Turner (New York, N.Y./NIA Prep) that gave Buffalo State a one-point lead.
 
Potsdam got the lead back with a layup from Langley, foul shot from sophomore center Kristoff Saunders (Queens, N.Y./Queens H.S. of Teaching) and another layup from sophomore guard Nosa Onabor (Brooklyn, N.Y./Northside Charter) over the first two minutes of the second, but Bengals' offense answered. Buffalo State's run started with a layup from Henry then Adams scored the next 11 points including three straight 3-pointers and another three at 13:16 to get out to a double-digit lead. The teams battled the rest of the half with the Bears getting within six at 8:25 with a layup from Saunders and again at 7:42 with a two made free throws from Onabor, but this was all the closer Potsdam would get. The Bengals scored five more points in the closing two minutes to take the 80-68 victory.
 
Delsol-Lowry finished the night with 10 points, six assists, five steals and seven rebounds. Langley added 12 points of his own and Onabor clipped in another 10. Saunders fell short of a double-double to finish with nine points and seven boards.
 
Henry recorded 16 points, four assists and nine rebounds for the Bengals. Turner and sophomore guard Zach Ciezki (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) each scored 11 points and grabbed three boards. Sophomore forward Sir.Quintin Campbell (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore West) capped the scoring with nine points and added another eight rebounds to their total.
 
Buffalo State shot 48.3-percent from the floor, while the Bears shot 34.9-percent.
 
Potsdam is back in action tomorrow, when the Bears take on SUNY Fredonia at 3:30 p.m.
