Cortland Defeats Host Geneseo, 15-10, in SUNYAC Play

GENESEO, N.Y. – Sophomore Lexie Meager (Syracuse/West Genesee) and junior Carly Stone (Syracuse/Jamesville-DeWitt) scored three goals each to help nationally 21st-ranked Cortland win 15-10 over 12th ranked Geneseo in SUNYAC play.

Freshman Hannah Lornezen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) and sophomore Brie Yonge (Penn Yan/Penn Yan Academy) both recorded two goals. Sophomore Baylee Ojeda (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy) and seniors Kristyn Drake (Tully), Katie Wolfe (East Amherst/Williamsville North), Jaycie Annable (Navarino/Onondaga), and Megan Gonzalez (Miller Place) also contributed one goal. Meager won six draw controls, scooped up three ground balls, and caused three turnovers. Freshman Annie Casey (Bay Shore) was credited with 11 saves and six ground balls. 

The Red Dragons, undefeated in SUNYAC play, built an 8-5 lead after the game's first half. Lorenzen and Yonge scored twice while Stone, Meager, and Wolfe added another goal in last 30 minutes to secure a 15-10 victory over Geneseo. 

Tessa Doody led Geneseo (11-1, 4-1 SUNYAC) with four goals and one assist. Erin Cregan added three goals and one assist. Tess McFadden finished with four saves.
