Three Pioneers Score In Double Figures

Alfred, NY- Alfred State Women's Basketball Team fell short to Brockport 68-55 after a strong first half. Three Pioneers scored in double figures as ASC drops to 0-3 on the season.

Taylor Benjamin led the way with 11 points and seven rebounds, while Taylor Searle and Katelyn Curry added 10 points each.

Curry got the game started with back-to-back layups. The Golden Eagles made a run to take a 10-4 lead before Searle got sent to the line and made both free throws. On the next Pioneers possession, Curry made another layup to make it a 10-8 game. A few possessions later, Jaiden Williams notched a steal for a fast break layup to cut the deficit down to one, 12-11.  After some back-and-forth action, Brockport extended their lead to go into the second quarter up 21-15.

Jenna George got the Pioneers offense going in the second quarter with a three off an Anna Merry pass. A few minutes later, George made a layup and Merry followed with a layup of her own. The Pios would end the quarter with a 6-2 run, as they trailed 30-28 going into the break.

Brockport came out strong in the third quarter to expand their lead to double figures, and they outscored ASC 26-11 in the quarter. They were able to hold off the Pioneers in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
