POTSDAM, N.Y. – The nationally eighth-ranked Cortland men's soccer team scored a goal in each half and defeated Potsdam, 2-0, on the road Friday afternoon in SUNYAC action. The Red Dragons improved to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference, while the Bears fell to 4-5 and 0-2.
Freshman
Michael Lanzetta (Hartsdale/Somers) and sophomore Janik Juelch (Meerbusch, Germany/Deutsche Sporthochschule Koln) each netted his first career goal for Cortland. Senior goalie
Connor Young (Bayport/Bayport-Bluepoint) made two saves in recording the shutout. Goalie Keagen Briggs stopped eight shots for the Bears.
Lanzetta scored the game-winning goal in the 23rd minute before Juelch added an insurance goal in the 64th minute.
The Red Dragons visit Plattsburgh Saturday at 1 p.m.
