NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The College at Brockport field hockey team opened State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play Friday afternoon falling to SUNY New Paltz, 8-1
The Golden Eagles drop to 1-7 (0-1) on the season, where New Paltz move to 3-4 (2-0).
Brockport trailed early as New Paltz found the back of the net twice within the first seven minutes of the contest. The Golden Eagles defense struggled as the Hawks then added two more goals in the 20th and 25th minute to take a 4-0 advantage. In the 26th minute, the Green and Gold tallied off three shots from
Abby Meagher,
Maria Morgenthaler, and
Emily Hall, which were all saved.
The Green and Gold started off the second half strong, when
Jenna Croce scored two minutes into play. New Paltz then added three more goals over the course of 10 minutes to take a 7-1 lead. The Brockport offense added two more shots, but could not find the back of the net for the rest of the competition as the Hawks took an 8-1 victory.
Sarah Beam ended the day with 11 save between the pipes, and
Adriana DeDie stopped one.
Brockport stay on the road where they face Oneonta tomorrow with the game slated to start at 1 p.m.
