UTICA, N.Y. – The Mustangs made their second appearance in the 15th Annual NY SASH Teddy Bear Toss game on Saturday evening against the Utica College Pioneers.  However, Morrisville was unable to come away victorious in the local battle, falling 4-1.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Pioneers started the scoring early, picking up the Teddy Bear Toss goal just 61 seconds into the contest.
  • The Mustangs were able to draw a late first period power play at the 19:09 mark.  Unfortunately, a turnover in the neutral zone led to a short-handed tally for the Pioneers to give the hosts a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
  • Morrisville picked up another critical power play opportunity midway through the second period and this time were able to capitalize to cut the Utica lead in half.
  • James Boisvert (Mansfield, Tex.) found the back of the net at 10:35 with assists from Nick DeVito (Averill Park, N.Y.) and Ben Sprague (Norfolk, N.Y.).
  • After the goal, the Mustangs returned to the power play due to Utica's five minute major penalty, but the Pioneers tightened up their penalty kill to keep Morrisville scoreless for the remainder of the power play.
  • The momentum turned back to the Pioneers in the third period with Utica scoring twice in the middle of the final frame to secure the 4-1 victory.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • Morrisville will return to the ice in the New Year with a string of three non-conference match ups before returning to SUNYAC play at the end of January.  First up for the Mustangs is a road contest at King's College on January 7 before returning home on the 8th to take on Lebanon Valley College.
