Golden Eagles Improve Win Streak to Two with a 66-51 defeat of Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's basketball team improved their win streak to two Saturday in a strong 66-51 win over Plattsburgh. With their weekend sweep, the Golden Eagles improve to 5-6 overall and an even 2-2 in conference play.

Highlights:
 
  • The Golden Eagles led the Cardinals through all four quarters of the game, only trailing offensively in the third quarter where they were outscored 27-18.
  • Both teams traded points for much of the first quarter, with the Golden Eagles leading by a seven-point margin through 10.
  • An opening second quarter layup by Allison Chiera put the Green and Gold on the board first and they never looked back, holding a healthy 15-point lead at the half.
  • The Cardinals 27 points in the third quarter closed the gap to single digits, allowing them to come within six points of taking control of the game. The Golden Eagles put up a strong fight of their own in the third as well, notching a game high 18 points.
  • The middle of the fourth quarter caused some trouble for both offenses, each team holding each other scoreless for three minutes.
  • With a group effort by Chiera, Chelsea Henry and Julianna Taylor, the Golden Eagles third 16-point quarter was enough to seal the deal on a successful weekend.
  • Taylor commanded the boards for the Green and Gold, sinking eight of 13 attempts for 18 total points and an assist while grabbing five rebounds.
  • Chiera nailed her first double double performance of the year, pulling down a career high 14 rebounds and posting 12 points. The sophomore sank three of six attempts from the floor and six of eight at the free throw line for her best performance this year.
  • Kylee Rosbrook rounded out the leading scorers for the Golden Eagles with 10 point and seven rebounds.
  • The Green and Gold had nine different athletes put up scores on the afternoon for a collective effort offensively.
  • Overall the team produced 41% from the floor, 33% from three and 77% from the line.
  • The Golden Eagles held the Cardinals to only 26% shooting, allowing no more than two or three field goals in three of the four quarters.
