BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team lost 6-0 to conference opponent SUNY Geneseo Wednesday afternoon in State University of New York Athletic Conference action. The Golden Eagles fall to 2-11 (0-5 SUNYAC) on the 2017 season, where the Knights move to 7-5 (3-2 SUNYAC).
The Green and Gold started early, earning a penalty corner opportunity in the first minute, in which
Katie Ziemba sent her shot wide. Brockport suffered, as the Knights scored off a penalty corner in the ninth minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Golden Eagles defense struggled as Geneseo tallied on two more goals in the 18th and 30th minute, to have a 3-0 advantage heading into the halftime break.
Brockport continued to play from behind, as Geneseo scored three more goals in the 42nd, 44th, and 45th minute. The Green and Gold offense picked up the pace in the 48th minute when the
Kaitlin Croghan served a ball in from a penalty corner, to have
Margo Tremaine's shot saved. The Golden Eagles found two more penalty corner chances in the 63rd minute, in which they could not convert, to have the final score set at 6-0.
The two-time SUNYAC defensive player of the week,
Sarah Beam, finished the game with 21 saves in the net, and
Adriana DeDie had one.
Brockport travels to Morrisville State College this Saturday for their last SUNYAC contest of the regular season, with the game slated to start at 5 p.m.
