ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oswego State volleyball team held off a pesky Plattsburgh squad, 3-1, in conference action Friday night at SUNY Oneonta. Set scores for the match were 25-20, 25-17, 23-25, and 25-19. With the win, the Lakers improve to 11-13 overall and 4-3 in the SUNYAC while the Cardinals fall to 6-17 overall and 0-7 in conference.
Leading the Lakers was junior
Alison Sullivan with 10 kills and eight blocks. Sullivan currently leads the conference in both total blocks (39) and blocks per set (1.5/set). Sophomore
Shauna O'Flaherty added nine kills and 11 digs while
Lauren Fie had eight kills to help lead a balanced Laker offensive attack. On defense, senior
Rina Qelaj had 19 digs and a pair of aces with sophomore
Sarah Braddon chipping in 17 digs of her own.

Julia Flohr led the team with 22 assists while junior
Alison Berger helped on 13 of her own. Berger led the team with four aces in the match. Senior
Isabella Winklestine and sophomore
Laura Finn both had five kills and two blocks each on the night.
The Lakers are back in action tomorrow in Oneonta when they take on the Hawks of New Paltz at noon and again at 5 p.m. when they face SUNY Geneseo for two pivotal matches to determine who will qualify for the SUNYAC Volleyball Championship. The Lakers currently occupy the fifth spot with the top six qualifying for the tournament. New Paltz is in fourth and Geneseo is sitting in the third spot, both with 5-2 records. Geneseo holds the tie-breaker advantage over New Paltz.
