Lakers Unable to Top Plattsburgh on the Road

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team fell to Plattsburgh, 9-6, on the road on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Oswego moves to 6-3 on the season and 0-2 in SUNYAC play, while Plattsburgh improves to 2-8 overall and an even 1-1 in conference action.

Oswego opened the game with three unanswered goals, but the Cardinals were eventually able to grab a narrow lead in the second quarter. Each team scored two in the third, however Plattsburgh tacked on two more in the fourth to bring the game to its final score of 9-6.

Tim Schof contributed to half of Oswego's goals, dishing out assists to teammates Bobby Emerson, Mark Niechcial and Kyle Bacon. The sophomore's three points tied him for the game-high.

Niechcial scored two of the Lakers' goals, while Emerson, Bacon, Jarrod Wilkom and Caleb Alford rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. Alford also scooped up six ground balls, tying for the game-high.

Goalie Kevin O'Donnell made 14 saves for Oswego, his second-highest total of the season. The freshman played all 60 minutes in the net.

Oswego continues SUNYAC play as it returns home on Wednesday. The Lakers host Cortland at 4 p.m. at Laker Turf Stadium.
