BOXSCORE 1 | BOXSCORE 2 GENESEO, N.Y. -- Geneseo defeated Fredonia in both ends of their SUNYAC softball doubleheader, 4-3 and 7-0. Top hitter for the Blue Devils was freshman Makenzie Keeler (Jamesville, N.Y. / Jamesville Dewitt), who had four hits in the doubleheader.

The Blue Devils (7-17-1 overall, 1-9 SUNYAC) held a 3-0 lead in the opener before they were overtaken. Keeler had three doubles, including one in each of the first two innings. She also had two RBI. Katie Yudin (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) had a double and a single. She was also tagged with the loss in the circle to drop her mark to 3-9. Claire VanNewkirk had three doubles for Geneseo, including the game-winning hit to break a 3-3 tie in the last of the fifth. Taylor Moore (8-1) was the winning pitcher.

Geneseo's Ashlyn Kersch limited Fredonia to five singles in the nightcap. She pitched around consecutive two-out singles in the first by sophomore Cassie Herman (Maybrook, N.Y./Valley Central) and senior Katelyn Dennis (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) and escaped from a jam in the third after the Blue Devils put runners on second and third with one out. Maddison Tucker and Danni Napoli led Geneseo's offense with three hits each. The pitching loss went to sophomore Sam Seegar (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Starpoint).

The Blue Devils will play their first home games of the season this weekend when they take on Potsdam on Saturday and Plattsburgh on Sunday in a pair of SUNYAC doubleheaders. The Plattsburgh pair was originally scheduled for Friday.
