BREAKDOWN:

  • Period I: The day began just under a minute into the game when Logan Calder scored the first goal of the evening, Calder's fourth goal of the season. Following the goal Salve Regina maintained the vigor they entered the game with, making twelve shots within the following minutes. Brockport took the opportunity to refocus and challenged Salve Regina with nine shots of their own. Brockport went on the power play when the Seahawks were called for a two minute hooking penalty. However, the Seahawk penalty kill expired with little other than a singular Brockport shot blocked by Parker Mabbett. The first 20 minutes went in the books with a 1-0 advantage for Salve Regina.
  • Period II: Brockport won the opening faceoff but Johnny Mulera quickly earned Salve Regina the second goal of the night (assisted by Matthew Fawcett). Brockport followed it up with five shots on goal, attempting to make something happen in their attack zone. At 3:50 into the period the Seahawks were sent to the penalty box on a hooking infraction and shortly thereafter the Golden Eagles took advantage of the five on four situation. With 4:22 down Chase Maxwell (from Manny Sanchez and Schuyler Flansburg) earned Brockport their first goal of the night on the power play and brought the score to 2-1. Although both teams advanced the puck, nothing happened untill 9:53 when Cam Barbagallo (from Jacob Gates and Josh Grund) tied the game 2-2. Two more penalties, one for each team occurred in the remainder of period two however, nothing came of either opportunity.
  • Period III: 30 seconds into the period the Seahawks ended their penalty kill but, in an even strength opportunity at 1:15 down, the Golden Eagles scored their third unanswered goal. Scott Ramaekers is credited with the goal (from Cam Barbagallo and Connor Galloway), swinging the game 3-2 in favor of Brockport. Ten minutes into the period, the score remained the same, both sides moving it swiftly from end to end. Midway through the period neither team was sent to the penalty box. Brockport put pressure on the Seahawk's defensive lines and goalie, Cayden Bailey. The first penalty of the third period came at 15:26 down. Brockport's Ryan Brow was sent to the penalty box for hooking, putting the Seahawks on the power play. At 18:18 Salve Regina pulled Bailey from the net, hoping that an extra skater would do the trick. The Seahawks took four consecutive shots with no change in score and the team took a timeout to readjust but it just wasn't enough time. The clock ticked down and the Golden Eagles advanced to the championship round of the tournament.
