Men's Basketball Dominates Plattsburgh for its 8th Straight Win

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team won its eighth game in a row Saturday, with a 93-71 victory over Plattsburgh at home. The team improves to 15-3 overall, 10-1 in the SUNYAC, and 9-0 on its home court.
 
Jahidi Wallace led the team with 19 points, five rebounds, and two blocks in the contest. Antonio Alvarez shot 4-for-5 from downtown on his way to a 17-point performance.
 
Tyler Collins finished with 14 points and six assists, also shooting 4-for-5 from 3-point territory. Danny Ashley tallied 11 points and five boards, as the fourth player to score in the double figures.
 
The Golden Eagles had it going early from distance, as a barrage of 3-pointers gave them a 25-12 lead in the first half. Building on its early advantage, Brockport extended its lead to 20 points with 7:12 left in the first. Collins would finish at the rim at the end of the half, giving the team a 49-26 lead going into the locker rooms.
 
Collins and Alvarez were both perfect from the floor in the opening half of play. The duo combined for 20 points on 7-for-7 shooting and went 6-for-6 from beyond the arc.
 
Shot continued to fall for the Green and Gold to start the second half, as the team held a 28-point lead two minutes into the half. The Brockport advantage would grow to as many as 29 points, as it went up 67-38 with 13:34 on the clock. Plattsburgh was unable to significantly close the gap, as the Golden Eagles cruised to a 22-point win on their home floor.
 
Brockport outrebounded Plattsburgh, 38-29, in the contest and also shot 47.4% from 3-point territory. The team also took advantage of transition opportunities with 19 fast break points compared to just eight from the Cardinals.
 
Plattsburgh was led by Axel Rodriguez, who put up 22 points, five assists, and four steals in the game. The Cardinals are now 7-11 overall and 4-7 in the conference.
 
The Golden Eagles are on the road for their next game, as they travel to take on Fredonia. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, February 4th.
