FREDONIA, N.Y. - Cortland opened SUNYAC women's volleyball league play with a three-set loss to Oneonta on a neutral court at Fredonia. Oneonta won by set scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-18.
Cortland (5-7, 0-1 SUNYAC) will continue league action Saturday with matches versus the host Blue Devils at noon and Oswego at 5 p.m.
Nicole Silberer (Centereach) led Cortland with eight kills and added two aces and two blocks.
Jessica Allen (Syracuse/West Genesee) and
Courtney Silberer (Centereach) each finished with six kills, while
Amanda May (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) and
Nadia Moore (Durham, NC/Durham School of the Arts) totaled four kills apiece. May finished with one error in eight attempts for a .375 attack percentage.
Gabby Amelio (Pine Bush) recorded team highs of 22 assists, three aces and six digs. Moore and
Alexandra Graff (Apex, NC) each finished with five digs. Allen led the Red Dragons with four blocks and Moore had three.
Meghan Keyes and Victoria Moulder led Oneonta (6-8, 1-0 SUNYAC) with nine kills each. Jessica Fowler had 32 assists and Lindsay Pelaccio amassed 14 digs.
