CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected its Athlete and Pitcher of the Week awards for the 2018 season. Fredonia outfielder Steve Zaprowski has been selected as this week's Athlete of the Week, while Fredonia pitcher Luke Kuczewski has been selected as this week's Pitcher of the Week.
Zaprowski led the Devils to a 3-1 week. In addition to hitting .500 (7 for 14), Steve also threw out the would-be go-ahead run at the plate in the eighth inning of a 4-4 game vs. Eastern Mennonite. Zaprowski tied the game scoring from second base on a wild pitch. Opening Day, he was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles in a 10-0 over Johnson and Wales.
Kuczewski went five scoreless innings in a 10-0 shutout on Opening Day. He allowed 2 hits and struck out 5 in the team's first win of the season.
The Blue Devils are participating in the Russmatt Invitational in central Florida from March 8th to March 17th. They return home for a game against Medaille on March 21st.
