BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The College at Brockport baseball team hosted a special event on Sunday that provided an opportunity for the children and young adults of Westside Challenger Baseball to play the beautiful game of baseball at the Clark V. Whited Complex.

Reilly Workman, president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and catcher for the baseball team, made this event a priority. He hopes this event will have an impact on other people.

"There is more to life than simply being an athlete," stated Workman. "I am always looking for opportunities to give back to people who aren't as fortunate as I am."

The junior reached out to Jack Milner, one of the founders of the organization, and set up the event that saw around 20 people come out and spend the day with the athletes and coaches. It all started with a variety of skill-work stations in the outfield in order to provide baseball instruction. After that, everyone stepped onto the diamond and played a full-go baseball game where the participants got to hit and run the bases. In addition, another member of the team, Charlie Serino, announced on the public address system the names of the participant as they approached the batter's box.

That was not the end however, as they proceeded to have a cookout after the game was over. The kids and parents were able to eat, relax and talk to some of the other Brockport baseball players as they enjoyed a day filled with baseball.

"Overall, it was a great day," said Workman. "I have gotten great feedback from Mr. Milner and we are in touch about hopefully making this a tradition at Brockport."
