CORTLAND N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selects Robert Ottaviano (Nanuet, N.Y.) of Oneonta as this week's Pitcher of the Week and Cortland's Dan Schweitzer (Poughquag, N.Y.) as the Baseball Athlete of the Week.
Oneonta senior Robert Ottaviano tossed a complete game shutout in a 6-0- win over Plattsburgh on Saturday afternoon. Ottaviano scattered two hits and one walk while striking out seven to earn his fourth win of the season. The complete game was Ottaviano's first of his collegiate career.
Schweitzer batted .615 (8-for-13) with a homer, two doubles, a walk, seven RBI and five runs scored in a 4-0 week for the Red Dragons. He had a .667 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage. Schweitzer opened the week by going 3-for-3 with two runs in a win at Marywood. He was a combined 5-for-10 with seven RBI in a three-game sweep at Fredonia Saturday and Sunday. His three-run homer in the third inning Sunday put Cortland ahead 5-3 on the way to a 17-4 victory, and he also doubled in a run to finish the game with four RBI. Additionally, Schweitzer did not make an error in eight total fielding chances, primarily at shortstop, over the four games.
