CORTLAND N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selects Luke Kuczewski (Orchard Park , N.Y.) of Fredonia as this week's Pitcher of the Week and Cortland's Scott Giordano (Croton-on-Hudson) as the Baseball Athlete of the Week.
Kuczewski tossed a nine-inning, three-hit shutout to lead Fredonia to a 6-0 victory over Brockport. The senior right hander struck out eight and walked one for his fourth complete game of the season, and his third victory in conference play. Fredonia travles to Plattsburgh this upcoming weekend to take on the Cardinals in conference play.
Giordano batted .571 (8-for-14) with three doubles, two walks, two steals, eight RBI and seven runs scored in a 4-1 week for the Red Dragons. In a three-game sweep of New Paltz he was a combined 6-for-10 with three doubles, a walk, two steals and seven RBI. Cortland looks to clinch homefield advantage for the SUNYAC tournament as Oswego comes to town for a big conference matchup this weekend.
